Last Chance for Crappie on Richland Chambers
October 8, 2008 on 9:47 am | In Fishing, Uncategorized | No CommentsThis is normaly the last month to stock up on Crappie here on Richland Chambers Reservoir until they move back up the creeks around Feb. or Mar. Once we get our first good cold front in October they vanish for a couple of months. Water temp upper 70’s lake level 2ft 10in low.
Right now they are catching some good size Crappie Mostly on minnows and a few jigs. Most are fishing 15 to 28ft of water around the timber. The Crappie are suspending down 7 to about 18ft deep depending on the time of day and wind speed.
Not much surfacing of Sand Bass lately but they are catching them trolling around points in 18 to 26ft of water. They are also catching some fishing slabs or Humdingers off the bottom on and around humps 20 to 25ft deep.
Right now most Catfish being caught are smaller channels. Bigger cats and Blue Cats will show as our water Cools. Most of the catfish being caught are coming on shad or  punch bait in 12 to 16ft of water.
Black bass have been bitting but are running small . Lots have been coming out of the grass on top waters and Spinner Baits in 4 to 10ft of water. also pitching plastics around boat houses and brush.
